About Me
My name is Bonnie Keown (pronounced Cow-N). I have been married for 20 years and have 3 boys (14, 17 and 18) my grandmother is Edna – she taught me how to quilt when I was 12 years old. My seams did not match, the colors were terrible and I used old polyester shirts for the fabric. Lets just say that it is a quilt I will NEVER show to anyone. The one, and only person, who saw the quilt said that it was the best work of art she has ever seen. At that moment I fell in love with quilting and I fell more in love with my grandma.
I was born and raised in Colorado, left the state at 17 years of age when I joined the U.S. Navy. I was stationed in Florida, California, Rhode Island, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Italy, and London.
I met and married my husband (link to Simply-Santa website) while we were both stationed in London.
After the Navy I worked at Northwest airlines in Minneapolis, Minnesota – where we lived for 12 years. Then 9-11 happened and our entire division was cut. I was not sure what to do and after much debate and a lot of prodding by my husband I decided it was time to work where my heart is @ home with my boys and making (or finishing) quilts.
What to name my business? Who taught me to quilt? I named my business after my grandmother, after all – if it was not for her I would not know what my passion is. Thank you grandma!
Edna’s Quilts officially opened in October 2006. I am located just outside of Denver in Westminster, Colorado. I specialize in making custom quilts. If you have a question, call me I can take care of all of your quilting needs.
